Stories of Christian Persecution | Fatima of Saudi Arabia – YouTube

So, I just came across this video from Open Doors. It’s a year old, but a powerful message nonetheless.

The story revolves are Fatima, a martyred Christian woman in Saudi Arabia, who said she was a ‘unto death a Christian.’ That leads into exploring the idea of risky Christianity and the observation that Christianity is always risky. I wholly support that idea and the conclusion. But, that got me thinking.

What does it look like to be a ‘unto death a Christian’? Is it even possible, when American Christianity is built upon making people comfortable, to be ‘unto death a Christian’? Is Christianity really risky in America?

Let me tell you the story of Daria. Continue reading

Answering Muslims: Nabeel Qureshi and Paul Rezkalla Arrested at Dearborn Arab Festival (Video Footage)

You’ve seen many Muslims take delight in the fact that we were arrested at the Dearborn Arab Festival. Now take a good look at what we were arrested for. Then ask yourself, “Why would Muslims be so happy that Christians were arrested for peacefully sharing the Gospel?”

Admittedly, I don’t know both sides of the story.  But, if the video presented is accurate, it seems arresting these folks violated their rights, and qualifies as persecution.

Pray for the Church in Iraq

Propping the church in the Middle East appears a losing battle. If centuries of decline under Islamic hegemony haven’t been enough, a few years of sectarian fighting and terrorism in Iraq are proving near fatal. The Christian population there has dropped from 1.5 million in 1990 to perhaps as low as 400,000—and many of them are internally displaced. Extremists target Christians in what amounts to ethnic cleansing in major cities, where vibrant Christian communities have dwindled to remnants. In Basra handfuls of believers meet to worship in house churches now.

Caring for the Persecuted Church

Power Line – Why Dont Christians Care?.

What I do know is that it is much more dangerous to publish a cartoon of Mohammed than to slice apart a Christian with a machete.

It is true we don’t talk enough about the persecuted church.  And, while we are called to endure suffering, why American Christians aren’t more vocal for their government to do something for those Christians.  If our nation is founded on the idea of religious liberty, then you would think we could at least condemn the world wide attacks upon Christians.

One great source for information concerning the plight of the Persecuted Church is Voice of the Martyrs.

Earlier, we heard what seemed like good news out of China.  Now, we’re hearing of more persecution.

The closure of what may be China’s first mega-church is the most visible sign that the communist government is determined to rein in the rapid spread of Christianity, with a crackdown in recent months that church leaders call the harshest in years.
